How I Felt After Visiting a Rage Room at Ground Zero Tactical Laser Tag. By Jenny Washington

"I had heard about rage rooms for a while, but I never quite understood the appeal. Sure, they seemed like a fun way to blow off steam, but would smashing things really make me feel better? When I found out that Ground Zero Tactical Laser Tag in Elon, NC had a rage room, I decided it was time to find out for myself. What I experienced was more than just a session of breaking things—it was a cathartic release I didn’t know I needed.

Walking into the rage room at Ground Zero, I was immediately struck by the setup. The room was filled with various items ready to be demolished: glass bottles, old printers, ceramic plates, and more. I was handed a baseball bat and a Helment. They also provided safety gear: gloves, a full face shield, and a full suit. I appreciated the care they took to ensure everyone’s safety, which allowed me to fully immerse myself in the experience without any worry.

As I stood there, gearing up and choosing my first break, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. It’s not every day you get to smash things with a baseball bat without any consequences. The staff at Ground Zero were incredibly friendly and walked me through the process, making sure I was comfortable with everything before starting.

The moment I took my first swing, I was hooked. The sound of glass shattering was oddly satisfying, and each subsequent smash seemed to lift a weight off my shoulders. As I continued, I noticed my initial nervousness transformed into exhilaration. There was something primal and liberating about letting go of all the pent-up frustrations and just smashing things to pieces. It was like all the stresses of everyday life—work, responsibilities, and endless to-do lists—suddenly didn’t matter. In that moment, it was just me, the bat, and the release.

What struck me most was how therapeutic the experience was. Each swing felt like a metaphorical release of tension and anger. I realized that it wasn’t just about the act of destruction; it was about channeling emotions in a controlled environment. There’s something incredibly freeing about having a safe space to let out emotions that society often tells us to keep in check.

After my session was over, I was sweaty, a bit out of breath, and surprisingly calm. It was like a heavy burden had been lifted. I didn’t expect to feel so relaxed and at peace. The sense of release was incredible—it wasn’t just about the physical exertion, but also the emotional catharsis. As I took off my safety gear, I couldn’t help but smile. I had walked into the rage room feeling tense and overwhelmed, but I walked out feeling lighter and more in control of my emotions.

The staff at Ground Zero were fantastic throughout the entire experience. They checked in after my session to make sure I was okay and even offered some cold water and a comfortable place to sit and decompress. It was clear they cared about more than just the fun aspect; they genuinely wanted to provide a positive experience that allowed people to walk away feeling better than when they arrived.

Visiting the rage room at Ground Zero Tactical Laser Tag was one of the most unique and unexpectedly therapeutic experiences I’ve had in a long time. If you’re looking for a new way to blow off some steam, I highly recommend giving it a try. It’s not just about the smashing and the noise; it’s about the emotional release and the surprising calm that comes afterward. Whether you're dealing with stress, anger, or just need a break from the everyday grind, the rage room at Ground Zero offers a safe, controlled environment to let it all out.

So, if you're ever in Elon (Burlington NC) and feeling the need to release some pent-up energy, don’t hesitate to visit Ground Zero Tactical Laser Tag’s rage room. Trust me—you’ll leave feeling lighter, calmer, and maybe even with a big smile on your face."
